POOL YOGA

A fun, socially-distanced poolside practice in a private pool in East Mount Airy
practice in suits or work-out gear, with option for occasional dips in to cool off
sunning crocodile savasana, or floating with feet hooked on the pool's edge

THE POETRY OF YOGA
Great for yogis looking to enliven a home practice, or for teachers looking for inspiration planning classes, this course formalizes a unique approach to teaching the embodied exploration of poetic language.
Practical, user-friendly "ways in" to a poem via the body, either as:
-a full year of weekly entries as a monthly subscription, starting from the date you register, released monthly for a calendar year
OR
-27 entries, to be ingested as you are hungry
Each entry holds:
-a poem or two carefully selected for its seasonal relevance or a moment on the calendar
-a short reflection capturing its most striking phrases or images
-a methodical progression of physical practices (movements, breath practices, and visualizations) related to the poem's themes, designed to be accessible to all ages, body types, and levels of practice.
A CHRYSALIS FOR CHANGE
MEDITATION TOOLBOX
(Because 6 minutes a day actually CAN transform your life.)
Two companion courses, which can be combined or taken separately, accompany and guide you into change.
This online work provides a "chrysalis," or structure for growth, to help you develop regular self-care practices.
You'll find:
-6-minute video teachings (wisdom tradition gems + snippets of poetry)
-6-minute audio meditations (A grab-bag of creative, playful approaches to a daily meditation practice. Fresh techniques for finding your favorite way to drop in and center down)
-playful exercises like writing prompts, self-care tips, and experiments to export into your everyday life

You choose your start date, and level of participation.
A great way to share with non-locals the poetry and embodied reflections we practice in class.

March 14, 2020, 2-5pm
A day to welcome the potential for new life this spring, and consider what soul seeds you will plant, and how to bring them to blossom!
Our day together includes:
-Heart opening yoga practice for all levels
-Welcoming the Light: sun salutation as embodied prayer
-In-word Turning (feel free to bring a journal if you have one - not required)
you will be guided through several simple, process-oriented writing prompts to build clarity on what this spring has in store for you)
-Crafty Surprise: You can look forward to emerging with a nifty piece to bring home, a message in a bottle to your soul
Contribution: $50

FIRESIDE TWEEN/PARENT INTENTION-SETTING WORKSHOP

A smaller, more intimate group focusing on communication, for tweens (age 9-12) and a parent companion:
New year, new vibe - time for a re-set!
Touch ground with who you want to be this year, and how your parent can support you.
Come together and re-boot your connection to start the year off right.
Our time will include:
-restorative yoga to ground both of you
-parents learn simple, non-invasive hands-on techniques to help your tween relax and settle
-grats and asks
-mindful communication exercise
-intention-setting ritual

Great for brand new beginners to yoga, and those looking for a tightly-structured review: 4 sessions glossing the basics of a well-rounded yoga practice.
Each Monday will focus on clear alignment for what keeps us safe and grounded in a category of
physical poses, and then a related element of philosophical or energetic work.

hip openers and forward folds; mapping the energy currents and their typical blockages

backbends and core; mapping the chakras

twists and balances; 3 yoga sutras that take our practice on the mat out into the world

As in every Shiné class, each asana practice will be centered around a theme.
But for these special Saturday classes, Katy will theme each session on the written
or visual work of a different local artist, poet, or thinker, who will read to us in
Savasana and be available after class for questions.

WISSAHICKON NATURE BATHING WITH MEADOW YOGA
Saturdays in fall and spring 9:30-11am
Meet at the Mt. Airy Trailhead for a meditative walk (about 1/2 mile), concluding with an all-levels practice at the Monastery Stables Meadow.
Bring your mat - we will have tarps to protect it!
directions: from Wissahickon Ave, follow Mt. Airy Ave down the hill to the woods - plenty of street parking. You'll see the Shiné sign at park entrance. If you arrive late and miss us, just catch up on the trail leading to the Monastery Stables- tons of signs everywhere marking the way.

ON-SITE OR OFF-SITE WORKSHOPS: 2-3 hours, full day
Offering one-time or periodic workshops on cultivating resiliency for private groups at the Meetinghouse or at your business, home,
favorite destination spot, or house of faith. Each session provides a toolbox of user-friendly strategies for physical micro-
interventions that help reduce stress and increase wellbeing:
-yogic practices that use simple seated poses and breath work to balance the nervous and endocrine systems
-sense-based meditations for holding our compass within the conditions of our world
-excerpts from myriad wisdom traditions, with a chance for reflective writing and discussion
-practical skills from current neurobiological research for optimal brain function
This team-building work is ideal for medical professionals, social workers, chaplains, or anyone in the helping professions.

FIRESIDE RESTORATIVE YOGA WITH MASSAGE THERAPY
An extended restorative practice in Shiné's cozy fireplace room, designed to relax the nervous system. As you settle body and mind you will receive lots of hands-on TLC from 2 sets of hands. This gentle practice of relaxing poses (mostly seated and supine, and supported by blankets and blocks) is open to all levels of practice. Expect to emerge feeling grounded and nurtured.
